For this only opera of Beethoven contrasted with contemporary music, I conceived a space that is a journey from darkness to light. The ballet starts in a dark room with moving walls, and at a certain point the back wall cracks open to uncover another vast, bright space. There is a moving frame with fluorescent light that creates different spaces with light.
